Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego is staying longer at Varso Place
HB Reavis, the owner and commercial property manager, has extended its lease agreement with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. The tenant, who moved into the Varso Place complex in 2020, decided to extend the lease for 13,600 sqm of space. BGK remains a key tenant in the fully leased Varso 2 office building, where its headquarters occupy five floors – from the 4th to the 8th. The bank was represented in the transaction by advisors from Avison Young.
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is a Polish development bank that supports the socio-economic development of the country. It collaborates with the public and local government sectors, supporting housing construction, infrastructure development, and entrepreneurship, including the international expansion of Polish companies. It finances investments of strategic importance to national security. The bank operates government programs and implements programs funded by the European Funds, including the National Recovery Plan. In 2024, it celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Varso Place consists of three high-rise buildings developed by HB Reavis on Chmielna Street in Warsaw. This award-winning location has transformed a once neglected area into one of the new symbols of the capital city.
Varso PlaceWe are pleased that Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego has decided to renew its lease in our building.
The trust of an institution dedicated to building a strong economy, as well as promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, is incredibly valuable to us. The successful collaboration with BGK and the bank’s decision to remain at Varso Place confirm the high quality of the work environment here, our property management services, and the many amenities offered on-site,
- said Cezary Błaszczyk, Managing Director of HB Reavis Investments in Poland.
Varso placeSecuring BGK’s continued presence at its current location and extending its lease for the coming years
is not only a necessity but also a smart move given the current situation in Warsaw’s office market. We’ve observed a limited availability of large spaces in the capital’s central business district for some time now. Larger companies considering office space in this area should be prepared to begin negotiations well in advance, even up to two years before the planned move,
- commented Dominik Pawlak, Director at Avison Young, who advised on the lease renegotiation.
In addition to BGK’s headquarters, the fully leased Varso 2 building also houses offices for Ørsted, Nvidia, Workday, CIC Warsaw, act BSWW, Ipsen, and Tink. The buildings at Varso Place boast the highest BREEAM rating, reflecting their low energy demand. The architects also designed public spaces with attention to health and inclusivity, as evidenced by WELL and Obiekt bez Barier (Accessible Facility) certifications. Dozens of trees have been planted around the complex, on the roofs, and in the spacious lobby. Its central location and direct connection to Warsaw Central Station provide excellent access to both local and long-distance transportation.
